Systems Analysis

Capability Definition Documents Workshop (5 days)

Course Description

Developed by practitioners for practitioners, this new and innovative five-day ‘Operational Concepts Document (Development Workshop) teaches participants how to design capability systems and create compelling and well-reasoned OCDs.  Participants bring to the workshop an early phase, capability system problem and are taught how to develop well-crafted OCDs through a structured series of expert delivered presentations and guided workshops.  At the conclusion of the week, participants will have designed, developed and completed the core OCD architecture to support ongoing structured document development.

The carefully structured OCD workshop, steps participants through a proven methodology that develops best practice knowledge and skills about how to:

  • develop correctly integrated capability system and force designs that address the fundamental inputs to capability,

  • develop effective and integrated capability system models using simple-to-use, modern system engineering and requirements management tools, and

  • automatically generate a fully traceable Operational Concept Documents (OCD) or Business Requirements Documents (BRD), and

  • automatically generate a companion Function and Performance Specification (FPS) that maps the major system requirements into the OCD.

Who Should Attend

Anyone requiring a practical capability and force design methodology that can be applied to a broad range of air, land and sea doamins. Participants may include: capability project staff, senior executives, systems engineers and project managers.

Developing Capability Proposals Workshop (2 days)

Course Description

Developed by practitioners for practitioners, this new and innovative two-day ‘Developing Capability Proposals’ workshop teaches participants how to design and specify capability systems. This purpose designed course develops knowledge, skills and understanding through a series of structured workshops so that participants learn how to:

  • develop correctly integrated capability system and force designs that address the fundamental inputs that constitute a capability,

  • develop an integrated capability model using simple-to-use, modern system engineering tools, and

  • automatically generate traceable design products from the workshop, such as a Joint Capability Needs Statements (JCNS), Concept of Operations (CONOPS), Operational Concept Documents (OCD) or the associated User Requirements Document (URD).

Who Should Attend

Anyone requiring a practical capability design methodology that can be applied to a broad range of capability systems. Participants may include: capability project staff, senior executives, systems engineers and project managers.
