Systems Engineering Courses

SE WORKSHOPTM (Systems Engineering In Practice)

Do you need to learn real-world, practical systems engineering? We deliver the world's best practical systems engineering professional development course.

Course Description

Developed by practitioners for practitioners, the new and innovative five-day SE Workshop focuses on the practical applications of systems engineering in the workplace.

The SE Workshop develops essential knowledge and practical skills needed by modern technology professionals in order to bring clarity and discipline to the design of complex systems.

Through five carefully structured and designed workshops you will learn best practice systems engineering methods and techniques about how to:

  • develop coherent and integrated system operational models based on scenario driven methods and visual diagramming

  • develop integrated system functional and physical architectures using thread based analysis techniques

  • develop correctly scoped systems engineering programs that coherently integrate engineering management, technical work and V&V packages

  • develop fully integrated and traceable system models using modern system engineering tools

  • automatically generate fully traceable systems engineering products such as the CONOPS, FPS, SDD, SSS, ICD and mission profiles

The course case study follows the design of a new generation military vehicle.

Who should attend?

Anyone that requires a practical understanding of the systems engineering method and how it applies to the design of complex systems. This includes systems engineers, design engineers,
technologists, scientists, capability developers, project managers and ILS specialists.

Systems Engineering (Overview) Course

This one-day training course provides a high-level overview of the systems engineering method and how it applies to high technology projects. It is specifically designed to introduce students to the real-world systems engineering issues likely to be encountered by staff working alongside a systems engineering team.

Participants learn about the key systems engineering design steps of operational analysis, requirements development, architecture design, functional analysis and synthesis.  To complement the introduction to system design, participants also learn about systems engineering project processes covering systems engineering management, verification & validation programs, configuration management and requirements management. Further details on the course are avaibale in the Course Outline and Timetable.

Systems Engineering (Introduction) Course

This two-day training course provides a practical introduction to the systems engineering method and how it applies to high technology projects. It is specifically designed to provide a comprehensive overview of all the real-world systems engineering issues likely to be encountered by staff working alongside a systems engineering team.

Participants learn about the key systems engineering design steps of operational analysis, requirements development, architecture design, functional analysis and synthesis. To complement the introduction to system design, participants also learn about systems engineering project processes covering systems engineering management, verification & validation programs, technical risk management, configuration management and requirements management. Further details on the course are available in the Course Outline and Timetable.

Systems Engineering (Intermediate) course

This three-day training course provides a practical introduction to the systems engineering method and how it applies to high technology projects. It is specifically designed to provide a comprehensive overview of all the real-world systems engineering issues likely to be encountered by staff working alongside a systems engineering team.

Participants learn about the key systems engineering design steps of operational analysis, requirements development, architecture design, functional analysis and synthesis. At the conclusion of each technical design module, participants participate in an instructor lead demonstration and learn how the systems design process and system model are practically developed. To complement system design processes, participants also learn about how to implement systems engineering project processes covering systems engineering management, verification & validation programs, technical risk management, configuration management and requirements management. Further details about the course are available in the Course Outline and Timetable.
